In honor of the month of love I thought I’d journey back through the days of how these two Waller’s fell in love. Cheesy? Maybe. But oh so good for me to re-visit. Hope you enjoy as I reminisce!

A couple weeks ago I got to watch some of my favorite kiddos, Sadie and Cole, while their parents went out for the night! (You might remember their smiling faces from their photo shoot here.) Jason and I are very close with Eric and Kristen, so I LOVE getting to spend time with Sadie and Cole. We are great pals. :) Sadie is in kindergarten and is just beginning to learn how to read. We spent the evening trying to “read” each other’s messages to one another. I think I should’ve won a prize for each time I guessed Sadie’s right. She would smile real big in her new tooth-less grin when I actually figured it out. Here’s one of my favs. She told me right before she wrote it that “this one’s going to be really silly.”
Cole is 3 years old and is one if the absolute funniest little boys you will ever meet. He had been in the other room watching a super hero show. He must’ve heard us guessing each other’s sentences and naturally thought we were playing a game. He runs in and screams, “Ok. It’s my turn. It’s an animal. It buries its food and then digs it up and eats it.” Totally knowing the animal he was describing, I scrambled for an answer and said, “Uhh… A squirrel?” His answer? “Yesssss.” Then he ran off again. :)
Later in the evening, we had an iPod photo shoot, followed by a message that told me we’d better slow down on the fun for the night and hit the hay. It was a fun night!

Tonight I am thankful that Jesus is my hiding place. I had a rough day earlier this week. You know one of those days you’d like to stick your head in the ground and come back the next day? Life can get far too overwhelming and daunting, but Jesus remains steadfast and true.
You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance (Psalm 32:7).

Well… The last couple weeks have been insanely busy, which resulted in a lull in the blog world. But I’m excited to sit down tonight and share with you some pictures Jason and I took back in the fall of some of our best friends, the Henry’s! Shauna and Logan also enjoy taking pictures on the side, so we were each other’s models on a beautiful fall afternoon. I realized I never had posted those photos on my blog. You can see Jason and I’s pictures on Shauna’s Window here! Hope you enjoy!

You know those moments when something terrible is happening? Oh, you know. It’s like the moment moves in slow motion. And no matter what you do, you can’t make it stop! Well… I had one of those moments Saturday night. My little bro and some friends were over at our house hanging out. We had just finished up a meal of breakfast for dinner. And of course bacon is a must when you have breakfast, no matter what time of the day. I was moving the griddle that I used to fry the bacon. My griddle has the convenient tray that catches all the healthy grease that slides off the bacon as it cooks. I still can’t tell you how it happened, but that nice “little” tray fell out of my griddle and plastered my favorite jeans with that lovely grease. I mean covered me!! I just stood there in shock and was saddened that I had to be wearing that pair of jeans. Have no fear though. I applied Dawn to the stained places, let it set for maybe 5 minutes, put it in the wash, and wahlah – the stains were gone!

Here are some more from the Cooke photo shoot. Dustin and Erin, you have some awfully sweet and full-of-energy boys! Thanks for letting me get some more practice in on your beautiful family!

I got a chance to take some pictures for the Cooke family on Sunday. I have known Bill and Cheryl for literally all my life. My mom and Cheryl grew up in the same youth group in Hutchinson, and Cheryl’s parents and my grandparents are best friends still to this day. Their whole family isn’t able to get together much anymore due to having family in the military and law enforcement. When Cheryl knew they were getting together this Christmas season, she asked if I’d take some pictures. Thanks for letting me hang with you all for a bit, Cookes! I had a great time!
You might recognize the Golden family in some of these pictures. I took pictures of their beautiful family in this post.

Jason and I try to always make time for a date night one night a week. Our lives tend to get a bit too busy a bit too fast. Between meetings, worship practice, church, family, and friends, our week fills up in no time. Taking time for a date night helps us give each other intentional, undivided time no matter how crazy life can get. Last Thursday for date night, we went to a new coffee shop in town, Ad Astra. Jason got a coffee. He said it was some of the best coffee he had ever had. For those of you who know Jason’s love of coffee, that is saying something!! I had a hot tea (and yes, I did drink it with my pinkie up. Ok, not really but it was tasty!). We played a round of the card game Golf and just enjoyed each other’s company. If you haven’t checked out Ad Astra, you definitely should!
We finished up our drinks and then headed to Jason’s office. We jammed for a bit and by the end of the night had recorded a cover of Majesty by Delirious. My favorite lyrics are, “Here I am. Humbled by the love that you give. Forgiven so that I can forgive.” Can’t imagine what my life would be like without that love. A great end to a wonderful date night with my hot hubby!
Check out more of Jason’s covers and originals on youtube!

I bought a sad little house plant (an Ardsisa Red) at the end of the summer. I wish I had taken a picture of it when I first got it. Lowe’s had marked it down to $1.00, as if they were begging someone to take it off their hands. It was a brown, shriveled up 1-inch tall twig, with a teeny tiny spec of green life hidden under one of the crunchy leaves. I took it home, re-potted it, carefully watered it, and sat it next to my kitchen window, making sure it would get lots of morning sun. On several occasions, I wasn’t sure it was going to make it. I would see growth, then the next day, another leaf would turn brown and shrivel up. But… just a couple weeks ago, after almost 6 months of little by little growth, I noticed a new sprout on my now 6-inch tall, deep green, healthy plant!
I couldn’t help but think of how messed up my life can be. I fail time after time, then guilt sets in and the tiny bit of growth I had, seems to all of sudden turn brown. I become a shriveled mess, just like my plant. That’s when I need to remember what Jesus did for me. How do I so often forget?
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:6-15, emphasis mine).
As you and I begin our New Year’s resolutions, let us strive to accomplish them in light of this: we have to “walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith.” And when we fail, let’s be reminded that all of our trespasses have been forgiven. Jesus himself set it aside, “nailing it to the cross.” This year we can walk in God’s grace, knowing that in Christ we are new creations. And through Jesus, our shriveled up messes can start to sprout new life. What a beautiful thing!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17, emphasis mine).

Jason and I got to spend some quality time with lots of family this holiday season. Even though it involved lots of traveling, we felt very blessed to be able to love on a lot of people we care so much about. One highlight of this season was getting to share in our nephew, Amos’, first Christmas! I was able to snap this rockin’ photo of him on my itouch and couldn’t help but share it with the blog world. Anddd… What a more fitting time to share than on the eve of the of the KU vs. K-State game at Allen Fieldhouse? If you aren’t a Jayhawk fan, doesn’t this make you want to become one?! Oh so cute! Rock Chalk!
